I am going to begin a series of articles today consisting of our Presidential Inaugural Addresses beginning with President George Washington. Each of these inaugural addresses can be found on the internet and they read just as they were read the days that they were offered to the American people.
We are indebted to the work of Gerhard Peters and John T. Woolley for their website, The Presidency Project. What a great undertaking they have taken to preserve the words of our Presidents so all can read and research what these men were like and how they served their fellow-citizens.
Take a look at history now and then and you will discover from where we have come to where we are today–and sometimes that’s not always a good thing.
